Orange Vegas touchscreen phone to be launched for only €69

Orange is getting ready to launch a new and highly affordable touchscreen phone, called Orange Vegas.

The handset is a dual band GSM/GPRS one that features a 2.4 inch TFT touchscreen display, probably with a QVGA resolution.

The price of Orange Vegas (on Pay as You Go) is said to be of only €69 (92 USD), which would make it one of the cheapest full-touch phones ever.

This is what the device looks like:

The rest of its specs include:

* Bluetooth
* MP3 player
* FM radio
* 1.3MP camera
* 64MB of internal memory
* 1GB MicroSD card
* Talk time: up to 3 hours
* Stand by time: up to 7 days
* 84 grams

Orange Vegas is already featured on Orange UK’s website, in black and pink – although it’s not yet available for purchase. Most probably, the carrier will sell the phone in many of its European markets.

TAG Heuer MERIDIIST

The TAG Heuer MERIDIIST is a beautifully engineered but hugely expensive luxury handset, the result of a collaboration between the famous chronograph manufacturer and ModeLabs, a French design house who have been behind a number of interesting bespoke designs in recent years.

As with the BELLPERRE and Motorola AURA, the MERIDIIST is more about engineering and craftmanship than technical gadgetry. A standard MERIDIIST comes with high-grade stainless steel, sapphire glass on the display, a mechanical stainless steel keypad and the handset itself is hand polished and finished. The back plates come in a variety of materials, including rubber, leather and alligator skin.
On the top of the MERIDIIST is a secondary display, used for the inbuilt TAG Heuer chronograph, or alternatively it can display details of incoming callers. A special "TAG Heuer" switch can politely reject incoming calls, and it also starts and stops the timer, or changes the screen orientation.

We may as well mention the price: the basic MERIDIIST with a stainless steel and rubber or leather backplate comes it at a cool €3400 or so. If you want alligator skin instead, then you are looking at €3900. If the polished steel is not your thing, you can add a "light diamond" finish with alligator skin for about €7500, or if you want a full diamond finish with white alligator, then that will set you back around €18000.

TAG Heuer MERIDIIST The MERIDIIST is certainly extremely expensive, but in fact it offers better value for money than a Vertu phone.. and it is a much more practical handset to use every day. No, we're not saying that the MERIDIIST offers good value for money, but we think that we would certainly choose one over a Vertu.

Remember that we said you were paying for engineering and craftmanship? Try to remember that, because underneath the impressive exterior, the MERIDIIST is rather more modest. This is a quad-band GSM phone with GPRS data only - there is no support for 3G or even EDGE. The 1.9" 240 x 320 pixel display is small by modern standards, although remember that it also comes with a small 96 x 16 pixel panel on the top. On the back is a 2 megapixel camera controlled by a mechanical trigger which can also be used to capture video clips. The MERIDIIST also comes with an MP3/AAC player and has a very reasonable 2GB of internal memory, but local PC connectivity is via a relatively slow USB 1.0 port. The MERIDIIST does support stereo Bluetooth or alternatively you can use a wired headset.

There's a WAP 2.0 browser, email client, voice recorder and a set of personal information management tools including a currency converter, world clock and PC synchronization. The MERIDIIST's software may not exactly make you go "wow", but it certainly seems practical enough.

TAG Heuer MERIDIIST To be honest, the feature set is no more than you would expect to find in something like a Nokia 6300 which retails for about €120. Somebody who owns a MERIDIIST is likely to have a whole complement of gadgets to keep them amused with, the MERIDIIST really just needs to fulfill the features of a phone.

Due to the high-quality construction, the MERIDIIST is a fairly weighty device at 155 grams, although it's a pocket-friendly 112 x 46 x 16mm. The 950 mAh battery provides up to 7 hours talktime and 28 days standby time.. so again, the MERIDIIST is going to be quite dependable when it comes to battery life.

So, why should you want one? Well, it is a fabulous looking device, it will certainly be very exclusive, the solid feature set means that it is a practical phone to actually use, it's better value than a Vertu and in our view it a much classier device. But then the negative points are the huge price-tag and the modest feature set.

Would we want one? Actually, yes. Would we buy one? Well, no.. considering that it's 5 times more expensive than the gadget-stuffed Nokia N97. But if you are in the market for a super-premium handset, then we think the MERIDIIST will do the job.

The MERIDIIST is currently available to pre-order here. You can see more pictures in our gallery.

HP iPAQ Data Messenger Smartphone

HP iPAQ Data Messenger Smartphone is the second of HP's latest duo of Windows Mobile based handsets, but whereas the Voice Messenger is for those who want a device that's a phone first and smartphone second, the Data Messenger is an all out smartphone from top to bottom.

One of the big differences between the Data Messenger and its smaller sibling is that this one has a slide out keyboard which puts it in direct competition with the likes of the HTC S740 and Sony Ericsson's much hyped Xperia X1. That's some serious competition to go up against, so the question is does the Data Messenger have what it takes to challenge those two big hitters?
The HP is a much larger and wider than those two main rivals with the result that it looks slightly dated and feels quiet chunky to hold. That said, HP has tried to add a bit of pizzazz to the styling, by opting for a dark navy, glossy finish. The front of the device is obviously dominated by the screen, but beneath this there are two long and thin call/answer and hang up buttons, plus two touch buttons - one acts as the dedicated Windows key and the other as the OK button.

Nestled between these four buttons lies the d-pad, or rather the optical controller that simulates a normal d-pad. Rather than having clickable buttons for up, down, left and right, there's a small camera in the centre of the pad that responds to the direction in which you glide your finger or thumb over it. It didn't work particularly well on the Voice Messenger, and the situation wasn't helped by the fact that it was the phone's sole controller as that model lacks a touchscreen. For some reason the one on this device is much more responsive and much more accurate. It's also a tad faster to use than a clickable pad when scrolling through long lists, such as names in your contacts book. Plus, if you don't like it at least here you can carry out most functions using the touchscreen instead.
The handset's other key feature, of course, is the slide out keyboard. As the phone is considerably wider than its main rivals, you'd expect the keyboard to be larger too, but in fact it's not really any bigger than, say, the one found on the X1. We also found that the keys had a slightly ‘stickier' feel to them and this, combined with the Data Messenger's short space bar, means that we didn't like it as much the one on Sony's model.

The handset's 2.8in screen isn't going to win any awards either with its lowly 320 x 240 resolution and 65k colour range. We may have been spoiled by the display on HTC's Touch HD, but even without taking that into account the one here looks a bit dated, especially as it's not particularly bright or crisp. However, seeing as the Data Messenger is aimed mainly at business users we can let that slide a bit. The same goes for the camera. Although it has a decent resolution of 3.1-megapixels and an LED flash for low light shooting, the shots it takes lack sharpness and detail and so the results look pretty uninspiring.

On the plus side the Data Messenger does have onboard GPS. To take advantage of this, HP has preloaded the free Google Maps software and retail units will also come with navigation software under a 30-day free trial, but unfortunately the latter wasn't included on our review sample so we couldn't try it out. With Google Maps, however, it was pretty quick to lock on to satellites and pin-point our location.

On the whole, the handset feels relatively speedy in use thanks in large part to the 528MHz Qualcomm 7201A Processor. That said, it does take a while to re-orientate the screen from portrait to landscape mode when you slide out the keyboard, which is a bit annoying. On the storage front there's 128MB or RAM and 256MB of ROM, plus you can add more space using microSD cards. The card slot is slightly awkwardly placed under the battery cover, although you don't actually have to remove the battery to get at it so you can still hot swap cards.
Unlike most other manufacturers, HP has made no attempt to hide away any of Windows Mobile's user interface nasties. Instead you get the standard 6.1 interface in all its convoluted, unintuitive glory. To be fair, though, at least with Windows Mobile you do get the useful Office Mobile suite of applications for creating and editing Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents. On top of this, HP has pre-loaded the Opera browser on the phone, which is far better than Mobile Internet Explorer and works a treat for viewing webpages via either Wi-Fi at home and the office or HSDPA while you're on the move.

During out test period we found that the call quality was consistently very good and that the phone did a decent job of holding on to calls even in weaker signal areas. Battery life wasn't bad either as we got about two days of heavy use before it needed topping up with juice.

As we've already discussed, the Data Messenger is up against the likes of the Xperia X1 and HTC S740. Priced at around £400 SIM-free it slots in neatly between the two in terms of price as the X1 will empty your wallet to the tune of a hefty £490, while the S740 currently goes for around £320. In truth, it's not really as sexy or alluring as either of these two, but in general terms it's closer in functionality to the X1 as it has a touchscreen, something that the S740 lacks.

BlackBerry Curve 8900

BlackBerry Curve 8900 With all the fuss surrounding the arrival of the Storm it's easy to forget that most people still buy a BlackBerry to keep up with their email while on the move and aren't all that fussed about it's other myriad of features. The Curve 8900 is designed to appeal directly to these folks, as it takes the classic Curve design and updates it with a few useful tweaks.

Out of the box the 8900 doesn't look all that different to previous Curve models as it's got many of the same raw ingredients. As ever the front is split pretty evenly between the screen at the top and the full QWERTY keyboard at the bottoms, with the mini trackball holding court in-between. Look a bit closer, however, and you can see that RIM has made some subtle changes. For starters the chassis looks a lot classier as there's now a chrome band that frames the front of the phone with a glossy black finish used for the face of the handset.
The 8900 is also noticeably slimmer and lighter than its predecessors and two buttons have been added to the top of the chassis for putting the phone in and out of silent mode and switching the keylock on and off . As they're flush with the case (the top part of the case seems to act as a kind of elongated rocker switch) they take a little getting used to, but keeping them flush does at least give a sleeker look. Another welcome tweak is that the handset includes a standard headphone jack rather than the propriety one used on previous models.

As the device is physically smaller than previous models, the screen has also been reduced in size slightly, but this is offset by the fact that RIM has upped the resolution to 480 x 360 pixels. As a result text and graphics look exceptionally sharp, and colours are also very vibrant making pictures and movies look really stunning too.

The 8900 is also the first device to feature RIM's new ‘Atomic' trackball which has been redesigned to be more resistant to dust and dirt and also to have smoother action. It certainly feels smoother under your thumb or finger, which makes it faster to scroll around webpages or through lists of text and icons.

The keyboard also seems to be slightly smaller than on the previous models, but it's still one of the best found on any mobile device. In part this is because it has individually raised keys rather than a single membrane as on some smartphones, but it's also because the keyboard layout is well thought out and the keys are just so tactile. It really is great for tapping out emails or entering webpage addresses.

Internally there are some changes too. The 8900 features a faster processor as RIM has moved it over from the 312MHz model used on the 8200 series to a faster 512MHz processor here. And while the 8900 doesn't feel quite as speedy as the Bold, it is faster than most of the other devices in the BlackBerry range and definitely feels very zippy when you're using it.
The handset's memory has also been boosted to 256MB and the memory card slot now takes cards of up to 16GB in size. The card slot is found under the battery cover and has a bit of an odd design. To get a card out of it you have to slide it out of a recess that's tight up against the SIM card holder. Elegant it is not, but at least it does let you hot swap cards.

For taking snaps the 8900 has a 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus and an LED flash. It's a significant improvement on the 2.0-megapixel camera used in the previous Curve models, but it's still not all that great. When you transfer shots to a computer you can see that they lack fine detail and suffer from some colour fringing.

RIM supplies the handset with a pair of headphones that have built-in hands-free functionality. Unfortunately, they're a tad uncomfortable to wear and the sound quality is about as good as a pair of headphones you might pick up down your local Poundshop. Luckily, as the Curve sports a standard headphone jack, you can use your own cans with it. With a proper set of headphones the sound quality is actually reasonably good, although not on the same par as the likes of the iPhone, as it doesn't sound quite as warm and clean.
Like other recent BlackBerry models, the 8900 uses the new V4.5 of the company's operating system. As well as fresher, cleaner icons this also has a neat feature where six shortcuts are added to the bottom of the standby screen to give you quick access to features like the media browser, email client and camera. All of these are customisable, so you can choose which apps are represented.

Obviously, BlackBerry devices are famous for their emailing abilities, and the 8900 is no different. It's easy to set up with your current email account and there are now extra applications for instant messaging and social networking sites like Facebook. On top of this, there are a number of apps to let you open and edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint Office files. The standard web browser is also very good and although it doesn't support Flash most pages load without any trouble and retain their standard formatting. As the phone also has onboard GPS, RIM has preloaded it with BlackBerry Maps software.

Throughout our test battery life was extremely good. We got around two and a half days out of it before it needed a charge. In fact, the only really big problem with the 8900 is the lack of 3G support. While this isn't all that noticeable when you're using it for email on the go, it is frustratingly slow when you're trying to load web pages or use the BlackBerry Maps software when you're out and about.

Touch Pro2

The HTC Touch Pro2, introduced to us last month at MWC, was shown off by a user at XDA Developers with a T-Mobile Branded ROM. Not sure how this person got their hands on it, but it appears genuine. This phone stacked with all the goodies is rumored for release in May.

We already knew the Pro2 was set for release in America but naturally assumed it would be found on AT&T’s network first, given that it featured some 3G frequencies normally reserved for AT&T. If released on T-Mobile first, it doesn’t necessarily mean AT&T is out of luck, but probably won’t get it for a while.
According to the source, here are some of the features we can expect from the Touch Pro2:

* 528 MHz processor
* Video Out!
* 480 x 800 resolution screen
* 512MB ROM and 288 MB RAM
* a-GPS
* 3.1MP Camera with video record
* Wi-Fi
* Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
* Maybe a secondary VGA camera for video calls (not likely with T-Mobile)

Word also has it that Windows Mobile 6.5 will be on the Touch Pro2.

More details to come as we get them!

Ulysse Nardin

Ulysse Nardin has recently announced its first handset, dubbed Ulysse Nardin Chairman and coming as a luxury “hybrid smart phone”.

Unlike many other luxury phones, the Chairman has a pretty cool set of features, starting with the 2.8 inch multi-touch display and the finger print recognition sensor for unlocking the screen.

Manufactured from “the finest materials”, Ulysse Nardin’s handset includes a mechanical watch. This will not only tell you the time, but it also helps you charge the battery, thanks to the kinetic energy developed by the watch’s moving rotor.

Other features include:

* Wi-Fi

* E-mail and Internet application
The price of Ulysse Nardin Chairman was not unveiled. However, according to the manufacturer, “only a limited number of Chairman smart phones will be produced each year”.

Nokia 6700 Classic

Nokia 6700 Classic mobile phone , it’s the simple candybar. The traditional screen at the top and alphanumeric keypad below may, at first glance, seem like the easy design option, however it’s often one of the most challenging; as to make it desirable, patience and talent is required. The award-winning 6300, especially in its silver and black colour scheme, was just such a mobile and now it’s being replaced with the equally special 6700.
Overview of the Nokia 6700

The shape is an evolution of the 6300 and it has retained the silver/black livery, but this time covering a more curvy, ergonomic-looking case. The rear of the phone is stainless steel, giving the 6700 a weighty, solid feel in your palm, however at 116 grams it’s not too heavy to be uncomfortable in your pocket. This is also reflected in its overall dimensions, 109×45, with a very slim 11mm thickness. Returning to the build, we love the polished look of the keypad, the expensive feel and overall build quality of the 6700, something which belies its competitive pricing.
A Deeper Look inside the Nokia 6700

All this talk of a pretty face may give you the impression the 6700 has nothing else to offer, however this is far from the truth, as aside from a series of excellent main features, the phone also has one or two surprises inside. On the sleek, uncluttered rear panel is the lens for the 5 megapixel camera complete with an LED flash, autofocus and VGA video shooting capability, while along the side you’ll find only the camera shortcut key and volume rocker. The MicroSD card slot is hidden underneath the battery so no hot-swapping, but it does make for a cleaner look. The 6700 is a 3G device with HSDPA support and A2DP Bluetooth, plus Assisted GPS with Nokia Maps pre-installed on the included MicroSD card.

The phone uses S40 6th Edition and therefore you have the excellent music player and a decent HTML browser, plus the familiar Nokia icons and layout. Using the phone is a pleasure, with the keys being easy to press, despite being mounted on a single surface, and the soft keys falling to thumb comfortably. In the centre of the handset is the D-pad for navigation purposes, plus it houses an alert LED to signal a new SMS or missed call. Finally, just like on the top range Arte series handsets, a tap of the 6700 mutes an incoming call.
Smart Software

The 6700 has two features which will be working away without you noticing, but all the while improving your mobile experience. The first is CABC, Content Adaptive Brightness Control, which uses sensors for determining the amount of ambient light around you, then by checking to see what application you’re using, adjusting the screen brightness and contrast accordingly – for example a game would be brighter and more powerful than reading an SMS – putting less strain on the battery and improving its standby time. Nokia have also introduced UNC – Uplink Noise Cancellation – to improve even further the call quality on the 6700. It does this by monitoring two microphones, one for the voice and another for surrounding environmental sound, to create the clearest possible call.
Summary of the Nokia 6700

The Nokia 6700 has few challengers on the market, with perhaps only the Sony Ericsson C510 and Samsung U800 coming close in the candybar looks department, although the both lose points for having fewer megapixel cameras and no GPS. Alternatively, if the 6700 is a little too understated, then the Samsung Armani M7500 Night Effect should satisfy. As is clear, we love the Nokia 6700 and consider it a worthy successor to the brilliant 6300. With its comprehensive feature list and almost ridiculously low price, we know it’s going to find its way on to a lot of shopping lists!

Samsung Haptic 8M 8-megapixel camera

The Haptic 8M will be launching soon in Korea for 900,000₩ ($645), but doesn’t appear to be headed for the North American region. However, this does give us an idea of the latest innovation Samsung has up their sleeves, and we’re certainly hoping that face tagging will become available soon in one of the new Samsung phones slated to debut this year in the US and Canada.
8-megapixel camera phones aren’t exactly new in this day and age, but Samsung has put a little twist into their latest 8-megapixel touting mobile phone offering, the SCH-W740 Haptic 8M.

The Haptic 8M features a 3.3-inch touchscreen display, 3.5G HSDPA connectivity, Bluetooth, GPS, DMB tuner, TouchWIZ UI, and of course, an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and face tagging. We’ve heard about geo-tagging before and face recognition, but this is the first time we’re hearing about face tagging. Basically, this new feature allows you to send an SMS or call a person by directly from a capture image. It’s quite a unique feature, but only time will tell if this will indeed be the new trend that consumers will be raving about.

Samsung S8000, M8000

Samsung S8000, shown above, features a 5-megapixel autofocus camera and dual-LED flash. It also comes with a new hexagonally shaped home button which could just be for aesthetic purposes only or be a new way to navigate the phone that will complement its touchscreen display. We’re not quite sure yet, but we’re hoping to get more details on this one as the months go by
Meanwhile, the Samsung M8000 may appear to be just the same as the S8000, but looking more closely, you’ll notice that there’s a music control key just above its display. It also features a 3.5mm jack, USB port, camera and LED flash at the back, and what could be a front-facing VGA camera as well.

That’s it for now. For more pics, you can check them out here. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that these two will make it to the launch table before the 1H of 2009 comes to a close so by then, we’ll get the official juicy details on what these pair of touchscreen phones have to offer.

Google has announced that Google Mobile App on your Blackberry will now let you search with your voice and with My Location. Try it by visiting http://m.google.com on your Blackberry.

As an example; let's say you are visiting Manhattan, NY, and you have a craving for prime rib stake. With the My Location feature enabled, you can just enter "prime rib stake" into Google Mobile App, and it will return the restaurants selling prime rib stake closest to you. No need to type in "prime rib stake near 34th Street".  Google Mobile App will also displays search suggestions as you type, you may only need to type part of the query before "Best Prime Rib in Manhattan" pops up as a suggestion.

Additionally, searching by voice can be used in with the My Location feature, and works well with standard Google searches, such as currency conversion and weather.

If you happen to speak with a British accent, Google Mobile App now support British English as well. Google Mobile App is now available on all versions of Blackberry running on O/S 4.1+ and with Search by voice on O/S 4.2 and above (support for Blackberry Storm coming soon).

Tag Heuer launches Meridiist microsite

It’s close to a year already when we first reported about the Meridiist, the Tag Heuer branded mobile phone, and it’s only now that they’ve been able to put up a microsite dedicated to their first mobile device.

So, if you want to get more up close and personal with this Tag Heuer mobile phone but don’t want to stray far away from the comforts of your computer, then just click here to visit their newly launched Meridiist page. It’s currently listed as available for pre-order. However, it seems that those in charge of putting up this site were a little too busy with the graphics and animations that they weren’t aware that some retailers have fresh stock of the Meridiist in their inventory thus making it available already.
We weren’t at all impressed with the Meridiist when we first saw it in the press release, but now after visiting the site, well, we’re still not impressed. But hey, that’s just our opinion, and who knows, maybe you’ll be more inclined to get it once you visit their site for nth time and manage to convince yourself that it is indeed a work of art.

LG Lollipop

LG Lollipop has just introduced a new clamshell phone in South Korea – the LG SV800 / KH8000 / LH8000.
Also known as LG Lollipop, the handset is obviously targeted at young mobile users, and it comes in three color versions: Cutie Pink, Aqua Blue and “Boyish Titanium”.
On the outside, LG Lollipop has 220 tiny LEDs that can display various patterns – hearts, animals, cars and so on.
The phone looks good, although its design has nothing that we haven’t seen before:
Here are the handset’s main specs:

* CDMA and HSDPA connectivity
* 2.8 inch TFT internal display with 240 x 400 pixels
* Media player
* 3MP camera
* 1.3MP secondary camera (for video calls)
* MicroSD card support
* 106.5 x 51.5 x 13.4 mm
* 92g

LG Lollipop should be available in South Korea starting this month, via all major carriers (SK Telecom, KTF and LG Telecom). No details about its release in other markets.

Nokia Mail Exchange v2.9.158

Nokia Mail Exchange v2.9.158 has released a major update for their Mail for Exchange mobile client which aims to make more competitive and a viable business solution for business folks.

Here’s a quick rundown of some of the new features that Mail for Exchange version 2.9.158 brings to the table:

• Access Point Groups/Destinations (for S60 3rd Edition FP 2 and S60 5th Edition phones only) - Active automatic switching between WiFi and GPRS connections if Destinations is supported
• Calendar, Contacts, and Tasks are disabled by default on new installs to prevent users from inadvertently losing Calendar, Contacts and Task data.
• Pictures in contacts are now synchronized
• All Mail for Exchange tabs are now always displayed

• Improved battery life in adverse network conditions. If it can’t maintain a connection to the Exchange Server, it will automatically switch to checking every 15 minutes. It’ll switch back to Always on at the next scheduled period
• When editing your Out of Office (OoO) message on the phone, Mail for Exchange retrieves the current OoO message from the server when the setting/tab is accessed and OoO is set to “Yes” as opposed to periodically which was the case in prior versions. This requires connectivity with the server and may cause a short delay
• You can now manage your device by name instead of by IMEI through Outlook Web Access (OWA) email client if allowed by account. OWA users can perform device management features on their phone clients

There’s no doubt that Nokia’s latest update to their Mail for Exchange client will make it more reliable and easier to use. As to whether itis good enough for people to start choosing Nokia over a BlackBerry, we probably all know the answer to that question.

Nonetheless, the improvements they have made in version 2.9.158 will certainly help their cause and will be very much appreciated by loyal Nokia-using businessmen from all over the globe. If you’re more than ready to update, head on over here to download it now.

BlackBerry 9630 Niagara

Kevin’s not the only one with the up-and-coming BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) 9630 Niagara - Boy Genius has his mitts on a working unit, and gives us a quick run-through of the browser, address book, and messages. To be honest, we aren’t expecting anything especially surprising in the operating system, but a solid spec sheet would certainly be nice. Regardless, the hardware looks nice, packing the slimness of the Curve and the keyboard of the Bold, and should be a solid addition to RIM’s CDMA lineup. If this is the BlackBerry for you, last we heard, the Niagara would be landing on Verizon (NYSE: VZ) in May.

Flip Mino HD

Flip Mino HD recording news, the Flip Mino HD has touched down in the UK, doing a very reasonable 720p HD…

There’s been quite a bit of news buzz recently about HD video recording, and I’d suggest that perhaps it could be the next big thing in Mobile, now that the Camera-MP battle has more or less reached a practical conclusion (anyone who thinks 12MP in a mobile camera is going to be better than a dedicated one needs their head looking at!).

Of course, these diddy-cams are also not going to give the recording quality of something in either the £500 or £1000 bracket, but, they are a practicable solution, producing reasonable results. I’d bet in natural light they are actually perfectly serviceable, much like stills-sensors on mobile cams.

It’s Firebox that is carrying the Flip Mino HD, and you can see it in all it’s wonderment here.

Google has announced a new version of their mobile YouTube application that's optimized for most Window Mobile and Symbian Series 60 devices. Visit m.youtube.com from your cell phone to download the app.

The new version supports most Windows Mobile and Nokia S60 devices (see list of supported Nokia S60 devices).  It allows faster application start-up, searching, and video loading. For even quicker access, add the application icon to your phone's home screen.

The new version also has better video quality that automatically detects your device and network capabilities, and selects the highest available stream quality based on those. Videos will look sharper and sound clearer than ever. It is comes with easy video viewing, when installed, no configuration is required outside of the application.

Streaming over WiFi is also improved to support a wider range of networks and a more robust streaming with improved buffering ensures that videos will play even in weak coverage areas.

The new version will alert you as more improvements become available.

Samsung C3310

Samsung is getting ready to release yet another entry-level phone, the C3310.

It’s a tiny 3G-less slider that will be introduced in China (via China Mobile), as well as across Europe, for an affordable price: around 110 Euros ($150).

There’s nothing exciting about the C3310, as it has a simple design and a set of basic features, but people who don’t need more will probably find the handset good enough for them.
The phone’s specs and features include:

* Quad band GSM connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with EDGE
* 176 x 220 pixels display with 262K colors
* Bluetooth
* MP3 player
* FM radio
* USB
* MicroSD card support
* 99.9 x 48.5 x 13.8 mm
* 93 grams

No word yet on when Samsung C3310 will be on sale, but we know it should be available in three color versions: black, silver and blue.
