There have been only 1,000 units sold until now across Israel. However, a full launch should follow soon, in markets like India, Philippines, Russia, Greece, Romania, and several South American countries.

Nokia and Microsoft has just formalized their alliance and announced that Office Mobile will soon be available on Nokia smartphones. Previously limited to Windows Mobile devices only, this is the first time that Office Mobile will be made available outside of a Microsoft platform. Probably conceding to the fact that Windows Mobile devices will never be as successful as Nokia handsets, Microsoft has agreed to partner with the Finnish company to provide native support for Microsoft Office on their mobile devices beginning with their Eseries line.
Apart from Office Mobile, Office Communicator Mobile, SharePoint, and Microsoft System Center will all soon be hitting Nokia Symbian-based devices as well. No word, though, on when these productivity tools will be made available to the public, but this is should be good news for Nokia fanatics looking to get more done out of their mobile phone.
The full press release from Microsoft can be found here while Nokia’s is located here. Below is a video of Microsoft Business Division President Stephen Elop and Nokia’s Executive Vice President for Devices Kai Öistämö making the announcement:
On a similar note, Nokia also mentioned that they will be working with Microsoft on providing a whole “new user experience” to be showcased in their future devices. Unfortunately, they didn’t go into specifics regarding this matter, but it’s pretty clear that Office Mobile for Nokia smartphones is just the start of something big for both companies.
over 1 million HTC Magic phones have been sold wordlwide already

over 1 million HTC Magic phones have been sold wordlwide already based on the announcement made by HTC. This feat is extra special considering that HTC’s market reach is nowhere near Nokia’s, and the brand’s appeal is certainly not as strong to demand a devoted following similar to that of Apple or RIM. One thing that’s probably going the HTC Magic’s way, though, is that it runs on Android. This new mobile operating system makes it a nice alternative for those looking for a different platform apart from Windows Mobile and Symbian that is more or less at par with the iPhone and its mobile Mac OS X.
HTC also took the time to let everybody know that they’re now planning to focus more on mid-end smartphones for the remainder of the year. Peter Chou disclosed that roughly 50-60% of their shipments for the 2H of 2009 will be mid-end phones that will retail for around $300.
This should good news for consumers, and for HTC as well considering how the market has changed as a result of the global financial crisis. High-end phone sales have significantly gone down and more affordable entry to mid-level phones are all the rage these days. With HTC committing to produce more mid-end phones, this should help jack up sales, and in turn, improve their position in the industry.

Verizon is said to be getting this phone shortly, though no official word from Verizon as of yet.
First up, the Leo basically sounds like HTC’s go-for-broke, ultra high-end model with an 8 megapixel camera, 4.3-inch (yes, 4.3-inch) WVGA capacitive display, 1GHz Snapdragon, and all the trimmings
Whitestone pictured on the right looks smaller than the last shot, though we don’t know whether this is a newer or older render; either way, though it is good to say that Verizon’s lined up for one of the coolest Touch Diamond2 variants on the block.

Samsung Blue Earth solar phone aka Samsung S7550 is eco-friendly device prides itself with a solar panel on the back, and an energy-efficient charger for those days when/places where there’s no Sun around. Furthermore, the S7550 Blue Earth now actually works, as Samsung installed its TouchWiz interface on it as well there is some camera on the back. The handset is manufactured without Beryllium, Phthalate or Brominated Flame Retardants (which are harmful substances).

HTC Touch Pro 2 is now available online and in-store. So, in the end, how much are you going to end up paying for the 3.6″ touchscreen, sliding QWERTY keyboard, 3.2MP camera, WiFi and GPS beauty? Try $349.99 on a 2-year contract….

LG Chocolate 3 is a clamshell. Although it has the same model name, it is not slider as the first two generations (VX8500 and 8550). It is still a music-centric device with large control keys on the front, when closed. It also features a 2-megapixel camera and two color displays, as well as microSD slot for memory.
The good: The LG Chocolate 3 is an attractive phone with easy-to-use controls, two brilliant displays, and plenty of multimedia features. It also has a 3.5-mm headset jack, stereo Bluetooth, and a built-in FM transmitter. Call quality was excellent as well.
The bad: The LG Chocolate 3 suffers from a flat and slippery keypad, plus a reflective front surface that’s prone to fingerprint smudges.
The bottom line: The LG Chocolate 3’s design doesn’t quite match up to its predecessors, but upgraded features like a built-in FM transmitter makes it a worthy music phone purchase.

Word is that it will be exclusively available to Carphone Warehouse beginning August 11th for the first six weeks, and will become available through other retailers thereafter. As a quick refresher, the 5530 XpressMusic is considered as the more affordable and toned down version of the 5800 XpressMusic. It features a 2.9-inch 360×640 touchscreen display, 3.2-megapixel camera, quad-band GSM, WiFi, and runs on the Symbian S60 5th Edition platform. It will retail for £130 on Pay As You Go. That’s just roughly $220 in US currency which, I must say, is quite a tempting price for a touchscreen phone.
No word though on when it will hit other European countries or cross the Atlantic for a North American debut. It has, however, been rumored to be dropping in September which is in line with its announced Q3 release, but this still has to be confirmed. We’ll probably get more info once it’s officially released in the UK next week.

Apple implements a “consumer abuse detection system.”

Apple implements a “consumer abuse detection system.” Apple’s portable devices like iPods and iPhones would detect and store into memory “consumer abuse events” such as exposure to extreme cold, heat or moisture in void of warranty, a new patent application reveals. This concept is supposed to detect issues including a dropped iPhone that could potentially void the device’s warranty. The proposed system will provide several facets: a liquid and thermal sensor, a shock sensor for drops, and a “continuity” sensor that will detect tampering. Apple said that the new system should cut down costs for product vendors and manufacturers that typically handle warranty returns of abused products.
Apple explains the problem in its patent application.
“Often, particularly at a point of sale, personnel receiving the returned device may be unqualified or untrained to determine whether or not a device has failed due to manufacturing defects or due to consumer abuse. Thus, personnel at the point of sale may often times exchange the returned product with a working replacement product regardless of the cause of failure in order to avoid potential conflicts with the customer. As a result, it is not uncommon for consumers to receive replacement products or repair services on abused products not covered under the terms of a warranty. Such erroneous replacements or repairs may be costly to the vendor and/or manufacturer of the product”

“
Watch Instantly” streaming movie to iPhone and iPod Touch, iPhone’s large 3.5-inch display already makes it a perfect fit for mobile movie watchers. According to this latest rumor, the iPhone is about be become a movie-lover’s dream. There are whispers of Netflix preparing to bring their “Watch Instantly” streaming movie service to the iPhone and iPod Touch.
It’s unclear how Netflix plans to push on-demand streaming content to the iPhone, but considering how much bandwidth streaming video requires, we’re probably going to see the service limited to WiFi connections (Slingplayer Mobile for iPhone is limited in exactly this way). Netflix may release an iPhone application through the AppStore, or launch a web portal with iPhone-compatible video streaming.
Hulu is also still rumored to be developing an iPhone application that would allow users to stream from Hulu’s online library of movies and TV shows whenever and wherever they please.

Two new Philips phones the K700 and the X501 with featuring a full touchscreen display, the K700 is one of the few Philips handsets that don’t have an X in their name (although it’s part of the Xenium series).

Moving on, the X501 is a candybar that seems to be an upgrade of the Philips X500, appeared back in September 2008. Not much is known about the X501, but we can see that it has a 2MP camera.

CLEAR offers the first super fast mobile Internet service that works as fast on the go as it does at home. Unlike other wireless services, CLEAR delivers a mobile broadband internet experience on par with speeds typically experienced only on wired connections, like DSL.
The CLEAR customer experience is similar to that provided by Wi-Fi, but without the short range limitations of a traditional hot spot. CLEAR uses a 4G technology that differs from Wi-Fi called WiMAX, which provides service areas measured in miles, not feet.
Clearwire's 4G network is now available in four markets, with the expected September 1st launches adding an additional 10 markets, and the company plans to bring CLEAR to 80 markets covering up to 120 million people by the end of 2010. In addition to the markets announced today, consumers and businesses can now purchase the company’s 4G services online and at various retail locations in Atlanta; Baltimore; Las Vegas and Portland, Oregon.
Some of the additional markets planned to launch in 2009 include Chicago, Charlotte, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Honolulu, Philadelphia and Seattle. In 2010, Clearwire plans to launch 4G service in New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., Houston and the San Francisco Bay Area among others.
Visit www.clear.com for more information about coverage, service options and devices, or connect with CLEAR on Facebook: www.facebook.com/CLEARinsider.

rumors and confirmation T-Mobile has posted the 8520 as a "Coming Soon" device on their site. August 5th will be a great day for those waiting to get their hands on one or--even two of these considering the low cost of $48.88 that they will be rolling into Walmart locations with. T-Mobile as of yet, has not posted any contracted pricing for the 8520 nor any off contract pricing either but we're expecting a $100-$150 range on contract for the 8520. And it just would feel wrong if we didn't give one of these away, so stay tuned for an upcoming contest we'll be having where you have the chance to win an 8520 of your own.

iPhone RedSn0w 0.8 to fix a serious SMS vulnerability for iPhone OS where your iPhone can be completely taken over by receiving a maliciously crafted SMS message.
The iPhone Dev-Team has confirmed that it is safe to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.0.1 with the current release of RedSn0w
“You can re-use redsn0w v0.8 we released a few weeks ago to jailbreak today’s 3.0.1 update. Just let iTunes update or restore you to official 3.0.1 then run redsn0w. The only “trick” is that when redsn0w asks you to identify the IPSW used, point it at the 3.0 IPSW instead of the 3.0.1 one. After the jailbreak, reinstall ultrasn0w 0.9 if you need the unlock.”
Apparently the current version of redsn0w and untrasn0w will work just as well with iPhone OS 3.0.1 as it does with iPhone OS 3.0, thus jailbreaking the iPhone 3.0.1 firmware already works. The only thing you need to do is to update your iPhone firmware to OS 3.0.1. Then run the RedSn0w (latest), when it asks for firmware provide it OS 3.0 and it will work like a charm. More detailed information about jailbreaking and unlocking OS 3.0.1 can be found on the here.

Vodafone has yet to even release BlackBerry Curve 8520 OS 4.6.1.272

Vodafone has yet to even release the BlackBerry Curve 8520, or for that matter, acknowledge it even will be. Of course we do know it's coming but having the OS show up on the Vodafone DE website is just a little weird, though I guess stranger things have happened. Could this mean that Vodafone is gonna be launching soon? As in the next few days soon --or is it just that they made a boo boo in posting the OS? That has never happened before right?
In any event if you are so lucky to have an 8520 in your hands right now, you may wanna check the OS and see if this is an upgraded version that you may want to install. As for the rest of us, just we'll just have to sit back and wait knowing that when the device goes live on carriers (T-Mo on August 5th is first in line), we'll have an OS handy as well.
