Motorola Mirage (Shadow) will debut as the Google Nexus Two

Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha just confirmed that they are working on a Google phone which will also be sold direct to consumers just like Google’s first mobile phone offering

Jha seems optimistic of the road ahead. “We are just at the beginning of our transition to a smartphone company, and we have a lot of work ahead of us,” he said. Looks like the rumored Nexus Two/Shadow could be another major player in the Android phone market. Seems as though it is a upgrade from the Droid as the Nexus One is an upgraded Hero. Looks like this 2010 will be the year of Android!

Google phone that’ll be made by Motorola for launch this year. Will Samsung also hop on-board the Google phone bandwagon as well? This would be similar to the Google Nexus One made by HTC.

Google are going to be launching a patch that will fix the Nexus One spotty 3G connectivity issues

Google are going to be launching a patch that will fix the Nexus One spotty 3G connectivity issues

One of the problems is 3G connectivity that has been spotty for users. Many Nexus One users are reported to have this problem.

I wanted to post an update to the Nexus One Help Forum to let you know what we’ve been working on to help address the 3G issues some of you have been facing. I also wanted to thank you for being patient as we work to investigate the problem, an effort which has included our hardware partners.

Our engineers have uncovered specific cases for which a software fix should improve connectivity to 3G for some users. We are testing this fix now, initial results are positive, and if everything progresses as planned, we will provide an over-the-air software update to your phone in the next week or so.

It is expected that the patch will be launched in the next week or so. If you are a Nexus One user and get the patch in the next few weeks do let us know if it fixes the problem.

HTC Supersonic cell phone features include a 5 Megapixel Camera, a 4.3-inch AMOLED touch screen, 1GHz Snapdragon, 512mb ROM, Built-in FM Radio, Android 2.1 w, HTC Sense UI, Kickstand. WiMax and Snapdragon makes it suitably future-proof.

Nokia has just announced 16GB X6 touchscreen phone

Nokia 16GB X6 touchscreen phone sporting half the capacity of the 32GB variant and ships without the Comes with Music service.

Nokia X6 still features a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera complete with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash, TV-out functionality, built-in video editing functionality, and comes loaded with the latest version of Ovi Maps that supports free turn-by-turn navigation.

It also comes pre-loaded with games like Spore, Asphalt 4, and DJ Mix Tour. The 16GB Nokia X6 will be available in all black, all white, white with pink highlights and white with yellow highlights colored variations, and will begin shipping this quarter though the announcement didn’t go as far as to name which countries it will be headed to.

However, given that this version doesn’t come with their unlimited music download service, this new Nokia X6 has a more likely chance of being released in the US as opposed to its 32GB variant.

Google scrubs all speech recognition text clean of profanity and dirty words

One of the Nexus One’s more useful features is arguably the speech-to-text recognition service that allows you to dictate text messages, emails and web search queries. Thanks to Android 2.1 OS, the Nexus One can record your voice, send it to Google speech recognition servers and figure out what it is you’re trying to say.

It really is a handy feature. Handy, that is, until you’re trying to get dirty with your text messages. Turns out, Google scrubs all speech recognition text clean of profanity and dirty words. Thankfully, typed text is still free of cuss-word censorship.

If you have a Nexus One close by, you might want to have it try to recognize a couple bad words. For those of you without Google’s own Android smartphone, let us paint a picture for you: You’ve had a bitch of a day.

You try to speak those sentiments into a text message on your N1. Instead of transcribing your speech into an impactful bit of text, Google scrubs your spoken text and inserts “I’ve had a ### of a day.” That is how Google will censor the Nexus One and any other Android phone running Android 2.1.

Why is Google doing this? Are they looking to go Big Brother on your communications? Not exactly. Google apparently just wants to avoid a situation where a benign word or phrase might be misinterpreted as something much more naughty and accidentally sent to your mother in law.

Or, as Google put it to Reuters, “We filter potentially offensive or inappropriate results because we want to avoid situations whereby we might misrecognize a spoken query and return profanity when, in fact, the user said something completely innocent.”

We can live with that. Unless your name is Martha Focker, you probably won’t mind Google’s speech recognition nanny service too much either.

Hisense HS-E90 unveiled Android game

Chinese Hisense HS-E90 unveiled Android game It’s a CDMA-based (EV-DO Rev. A) all-touchscreen device which comes with a 3.5-inch HVGA (why not WVGA?) display, 5-megapixel camera, and all other “standard for a high-end phone” features like Bluetooth, solid battery (1500 mAh), FM radio, and so on.

Actually, that’s not one problem as there are multiple photos, but you get the point. As you can see from the image above, the device seems to run Samsung’s TouchWIZ UI which is, well, strange. We haven’t heard about any arrangements involving Samsung, but who knows, maybe they’ve licensed their UI after all — I’m arguing for such a move in a separate post. On the other hand, it’s more likely Hisense’s UI only looks similar to TouchWIZ.

Also noticeable from the press photos is the China Telecom logo, hinting us with whom in China Hisense is negotiating to carry their first Android baby.

Finally, it’s worth adding that the Hisense HS-E90 will be available later this month, and that the company is exploring options to reach other markets (except China), including the Middle East, Europe and the Americas. Pricing was not unveiled, though.
